ACOMB leapfrogged Sessay after an advantage draw at Bridlington to gain the promotion spot behind division one champions Heworth.

Batting first, Acomb made 190-8 - Andy Tute hitting 37 and Aiden Burton 32.

Bridlington were restricted to 166-9 as Simon Brown grabbed 3-34, despite a handy 67 from Casey Rudd.

Toppers Heworth also scuppered the promotion chances of second-placed Sessay when they won by 42 runs to knock their opponents down to third place.

Neil Johnson led their run-making with 45, while assistance came from Dan Walton with 34 and Salman Syed 29 in a total of 205-8. Rich Till took 3-29. In reply, Dave Johnson made 30 and Nick Thorne 27, but Syed, with 3-36, and Graham Knott (3-28) dismissed them for 163.

The Ryedale derby between Pickering and Malton & Old Malton ended in a draw in favour of the former.

Pickering’s 192 came from their younger players rather than the usual stalwarts as Isaac Christopher hit an unbeaten 73 and M Brown 39.

Stu Watmore had 3-49 for Malton whose reply of 164-7 owed much to Danny Foxton’s unbeaten 71.

In division two north, Dringhouses veteran spinner Mick Kenyon had remarkable figures to underpin a five-wicket win over Tadcaster Magnet.

Phil Smith made 33 for the Brewers but Kenyon captured seven wickets while conceding a nine runs to end the innings on 79.

Oliver Baxter hit back with 3-14 but Tim Owen’s unbeaten 53 took the plaudits in his side’s 80-5.

Relegated Sheriff Hutton put up a good batting display as they made 209-9 against Harrogate but still found themselves soundly beaten.

George Owram hit 85 and Louis Foxton, whose unbeaten 100 eclipsed his previous highest score of 15, saw Harrogate to a winning 211-1.

Chris Gartland’s 48 was assisted by 38 from Andy Frank adding 38 and 35 by Vijay Jayagapola.

It was a batters’ day as Hovingham and Pocklington each topped 200. Hovingham’s 206-7 included 88 from Richard Bowling and 74 by Stuart Prest.

Andy Anderson made an unbeaten 70, backed by C Wilson’s 61, to clinch an eight-wicket win.
