CITY Supporters captain Tracey Farmeary led from the front after Marcia ‘A’s Ellen Platt won the opening leg in their York John Smith’s Ladies Darts League division one match.

Farmeary gamed in 21 darts and then her daughter, Natalie, Gina Whittaker and Bev Harton gave the visitors a 4-1 advantage. Clair Cooper narrowed the gap, and then just missed winning a lone-handed pairs leg before City polished off the remaining games for a 7-2 result.

Tramways came out on top against Fulfordgate, whose Michelle Britton and Anne Bass were double ton scorers. With the tie entering the pairs all square, Gate took the lead through the Britton and Dawn Exton pairing. Jo Hodges and Lynda Kennelly set up a decider and Tramways captain Sue Lowery, combining with Carole Layne, won it.

Faye Hawksby, who hit a 25-darter including two tons, and Shelagh Kenny (121, 100) gave visitors Marcia ‘A’ a good grounding at Burnholme, whose Clair Murphy, Mavis Barker and Marj Pearson replied.

Chris Hayward made sure the teams were tied at 3-3. Hayward and Sharon Rishworth edged the visitors in front then Kenny and Linda Welch sealed a fine 5-4 win.

Tasha Benton and Rose Gray gave hosts Acomb a 2-0 lead, but Jan Netherwood started a winning surge from division two visitors Edinburgh Arms. Claire and Pat Jamieson combined to seal victory for Arms, Anthea Jamieson and Emma Frankland adding to their tally.

Bootham Cons Club have moved within striking distance after a 6-3 win at Severus ‘B’. Julia Hagyard, Dot Trousdale, Jane Barnes and Janet Foster enabled the club side to enter the pairs with a 4-2 advantage.

Anne Meek and Sue Gillan closed the gap, but Trousdale and Hagyard sealed victory and Barnes and Jackie Clemit added to the scoreline.

Jubilee ‘A’ captain Heather Bulmer hit a 120 and Vicki Capes beat that score by one as they won a close encounter with Severus ‘A’. Angela Lancaster and Capes snatched a last gasp victory.

Shoulder and Jubilee ‘B’ entered the pairs on level terms. Captain Jodie Dowson and Ann Parkyn gave Shoulder the edge, but Maggie Bedingham and Catherine Johns levelled before Jub colleague Rosie Hattee and Kelly Williams secured match points.


Flag flying high

DIVISION one leaders Flag & Whistle were 6-1 winners against Lord Collingwood in the York White Rose Ladies Darts League.

Toni Smallwood hit a 180 in the four-hand and then fired a ton in the pairs with Tamara Ferguson. Jill Stannard was Collingwood’s only winner.

Crescent ‘B’ edged past Lord Nelson 4-3 thanks to Angie Hurst’s deciding leg win.

Jill Clapham checked out on 72 for The Ebor at home to Derwent Arms, but the hosts won 4-3 with Claire Rowsby taking the decider.
