NORTH Yorkshire apprentice Anna Hesketh, who enjoyed a career highlight last week at Carlisle when riding two winners on Ultimate Ladies' Night, returns to the Cumbrian course today with good prospects of adding to her tally.

Rasselas, who was the first leg of the 7lb claimer's double on an evening when all the races were confined to female riders, amateur and professional, goes again in this afternoon's ApolloBet Free Download App Claiming Stakes.

It was a similar race that Rasselas won last week and it would be no surprise to see him oblige again for Hesketh, riding for her boss, Dandy Nicholls.

Hail Bold Chief was beaten a whisker at the latest Carlisle meeting and is out to atone for that narrow defeat in the ApolloBet In Play Betting Handicap.

Alan Swinbank's gelding, making his first appearance of the season, looked sure to prevail last week under Megan Nicholls, but he edged off a true line near the finish and just missed out. He should make a bold bid to go one better under Ben Curtis.

In the ApolloBet Enhanced Racing Specials Nursery Handicap, Westhoughton deserves one more chance over the minimum trip.

The juvenile, trained by David O'Meara, was a beaten favourite at Musselburgh on his latest start when getting going just too late to catch the winner Bowson Fred. Although he looks like a step back up to six furlongs would suit him, Westhoughton could well get away with winning over five furlongs on this stiff track.

Norton trainer John Quinn, pictured, has a useful chance of recording a couple of winners on the card.

He saddles Irish recruit Seal Rock in the ApolloBet Best Odds Guaranteed Handicap and Phil Makin's mount should appreciate the step back up to six furlongs after finishing second at Down Royal over the minimum distance on his latest start.

Quinn and Makin can also strike with World Record, a winner at Thirsk in June before proving a disappointing favourite at Hamilton, where he may have found the ground a little too quick. He is fancied to get back on top in this run-of-the-mill affair.

At Nottingham's evening meeting, Enlace is napped to win the EBF Stallions Novice Stakes.

Mark Johnston's likeable filly won in fine style on her debut at Hamilton before narrowly missing out in a competitive nursery at Newmarket ten days ago. She looks a juvenile with a bright future and she should have too much pace for rivals here. Silvestre de Sousa rides.

Secret Spirit has shown enough in maiden company to suggest that a bold bid will be forthcoming from Clive Cox's two-year-old in the Simply Cartons Ltd Nursery. Ryan Tate, excellent value for his 3lb allowance, has the mount.

The £14,000 Ladies Day On Friday 15th August Conditions Stakes takes pride of place on the Nottingham card, but it looks something of a head-scratcher for punters.

This five furlong event has attracted a useful field of sprinters, but precious few of them are bringing their A-level form to the table. This race offers several of them the chance to get back on track and it might well be that Dungannon, useful on his day, can resume winning ways for Andrew Balding and Thomas Brown.
