CAROLE LAYNE starred as Tramways moved into joint second place in division one of the York John Smith's Ladies Darts League with a 6-3 win over Castle Howard Ox 'B'.

Layne hit scores of 133 and 100 in a 20-dart leg and, although Sue Tate and Sandra Bruce hit back for Ox, Jo Hodges started a match-winning run for Tramways.

Fulfordgate, level with Tramways in second, cleared up in the pairs for a 6-3 result at home to Marcia 'A'.

Clair Cooper gave the visitors the edge and despite Muriel Britton levelling, Di Moreland and Pat Cairns made it 3-1 to Marcia.

Michelle Britton and Lynn Thompson sent the teams into the pairs all square.

City Supporters, inspired by captain Tracey Farmeary and vice-captain Bev Harton, swept into a 7-0 lead against Burnholme, who got on the scoresheet in the pairs through Claire Murphy and Sarah Jackson, then Sharon Neads and Marj Pearson.

Severus 'B' went top of division two after a 6-3 win against close rivals Edinburgh Arms.

Michelle Kelly, Sharon Mountain and Wendy Storr won for the club side, but Julie Stables (100, 100), Emma Frankland and Anthea Jamieson levelled.

Storr then hit 120 and 100 as Sev cleared up in the pairs.

Bootham Club remain in contention after coming from behind to beat Jubilee 'A', who went 2-0 up through Vicki Capes and Julie Oliver.

Jane Barnes started the Bootham revival and she then hit an 83 closure in the pairs with Dot Trousdale to seal the win.

Alison Buckley and Kerry Humble gave Green Tree a start against Severus 'A', who hit back to lead 4-2 with wins for Sue Clark, Carol Robson, Glynnis Simpson and Sue Richardson.

Jackie Young and Humble closed the gap, but Clark and Robson made sure of the points for Sev.

Division three leaders Castle Howard Ox 'A' trailed 4-0 to Burton WMC after wins for Angie Blackmore, Sandra Pallister, Linda Embleton and Marianne Deamer.

Linda Staveley and Wendy Sullivan closed the gap before a clean sweep in the pairs snatched the win for Ox, Staveley and Rosie Pipes claiming the decider.

Melanie Miller and Doreen Johnstone won the final leg as Shoulder edged out Leeman.

Captain Maggie Bedingham checked out on 72 to set the standard for Jubilee 'B' in their win over Saddle.

Rosie Hattee (140), Emma Barker and Tracey Scurr followed her lead, but Vicky McClaren and Sharon Nelson pulled it back to 4-2 going into the pairs.

Bedingham and vice-captain Chris Peebles sealed a fine win.
