NEW Earswick have gone six points clear at the top of division five in the Fulford Ladies Invitational Tennis League after defeating third-placed Cawood 66-42.

Copmanthorpe continue to struggle at the wrong end of the table, going down 58-50 to Heworth, who are them in joint second place with Cawood and Stamford Bridge.

Lena Moverley and Maxine Gordon racked up 30 games in David Lloyd 2’s 84-24 victory over Bishopthorpe 2 in division four to move them into second place.

Leaders Popp 2 posted an impressive 86-22 score against Fulford 3, while Sutton had their second draw of the season, this time against Tollerton, to remain in the promotion hunt along with David Lloyd and Riccall.

They are all tied on 14 points with three matches to play.

In division one, Helen Larkin and Jo Powell claimed 24 games to keep David Lloyd 1 in contention to stay in the top-flight after defeating York 2 60-48.

York 1 look strong contenders to retain the title after a resounding victory over Castlegarth.

Dunnington remain third on games difference after defeating second-placed Popp 81-27, which included a 29-game haul from Joanna Craven and Kate Reader.

Fulford 1 extended their 100 pre cent record in division two after a 68-40 defeat of Knaresborough.

Starbeck continue to compete with Bishopthorpe for the second promotion place after beating Dunnington 2 65-43, although Bish recorded a strong performance against Castlegarth, with Laura Rhodes and Julia Sykes taking 30 of their 75 games.
