THERE was a three-way tie for victory at the York Tackle Darts/Fishing event.

The pairs’ competition, organised by York Darts Promotions, saw Neil Hart/Andy Love, Paul Chappell/Lee Fisher and Mark Leslie/Jason Day share the winners’ prize after a day’s angling at Raker Lakes in Elvington and a night’s darts at York’s Flag & Whistle.

Entrants from Leeds, Tollerton, Castleford, Drax and York did battle on the bank side and the oche with Chappell and Fisher clinching victory in the fishing contest by catching a combined weight of 70lb 8oz.

York’s Leslie and Day finished second on 68-14, with Mally Welsh and Richard Lee (50-13.5) third.

The best individual haul was claimed by Leslie (62-14), followed by Welsh (50-12), Chappell (46-0) and York’s Mark Miller (31-10).

During the darts, York’s Hart and Love clinched a 2-1 win in the final, having defeated Leslie and Day by the same scoreline in the last four to deny the latter overall victory.

Hart beat England international Martin Atkins 2-1 in the individual final, after earlier ousting Mark Clayton, Andrew Hanks and John Mooring.

BDO ace Atkins saw off Rich Corner, Love, Leslie and Fisher.

The first round clash with Corner was a classic with Atkins rattling off 14 and 15-dart legs and his York rival responding by checking out in 14 throws.

The 2015 event has been provisionally pencilled in for Saturday, July 18.
