EAST Yorkshire racer Guy Smith claimed a second win in succession to top the Blancpain Endurance Series drivers’ championship.
The Beverley-based driver spearheaded an outstanding performance for M-Sport Bentley at the third round of the series at Paul Ricard.
The victory means Smith and team-mates Andy Meyrick and Steven Kane lead the drivers’ championship with two races remaining.
Racing their Continental GT3, the trio took the lead at the half way point of the three-hour event, but then had to fight a close and tense battle with the ART McLaren.
Smith said: “I’m absolutely delighted to have another win so soon.
“It’s another superb performance by the whole team and I think we’re going in to the most important race of the season at Spa in very good shape.
“We’ve got to keep pushing hard and not get complacent, but I’m hopeful that we can challenge for serious points in the 24-hour race and keep our championship lead.”
The team are now preparing for the 24 Hours of Spa race on Saturday, July 26.
