SHERIFF Hutton Bridge made it a 100 per cent day when their seconds emulated their first XI to beat division three north pace-setters Sessay.

The 47-run triumph, with eight balls to spare, enabled the Bridge clan to replace their rivals at the top.

Steve Crowder followed his recent ton with 67, while Mike Smith made 36 and Nick Scaling 35 as Bridge totalled 193-6 with James Easton taking 3-47.

Sessay slipped to 23-3 before a big stand between Darren Atkinson (55) and Tom Sowerby (42) seemed to be saving the game.

But Nick Scaling changed the context when he dismissed them both off successive balls en route to 3-34.

Mike Smith took 3-27 and Tom Magee 3-8 as Bridge dismissed Sessay for 146.

Easingwold retained third place when they defeated bottom-placed Drax by seven wickets despite a sound knock of 68no by Drax’s Paul Vickers.

Drax tallied 174-9 despite good bowling returns from Adrian Leckonby (5-48) and Andy Metcalfe (3-34).

Easingwold’s successful reply was initiated by Tom Langstaff (42), Metcalfe (29) and George Elliott, who made 25, before Ron Alexander’s decisive undefeated 45.

At Londesborough Park, the hosts batted first against Malton & Old Malton and reached 190-9 with Rhys Duerden making 38 and Ian Hodson 31 as Toby Sercombe took 4-24. Malton followed with a winning 193-6 as James Baxter hit 52, Max Fraser 39 and N Dawson 28.

Stillington’s Barry Milburn showed his appreciation of the York pitch by cracking an unbeaten 122 as his side racked up 259-6 before declaring.

He was supported by Shaun Speck (25) and Mark Aconley (59). Speck also took 4-28 as York, for whom Matt Swaddle made 31, were dismissed for 149.
