SWALLOW HALL Golf Club lady captain Marian Grant aided cancer research at the Crockey Hill course this week.

Macmillan Cancer Research is her chosen charity for the year and players who find the water with their ball at her fundraising pond have been paying 50 pence for each errant shot.

On Captain’s Day, on Thursday, 50 golfers played a round, with Grant manning a half-way house for refreshments, with the day raising money for the cancer charity and Martin House Hospice.

Sally Millington, fundraising manager for Macmillan, said: “Everyone knows someone who has been affected by cancer, and every penny that they raised through this event will help us to reach more people who need our support as they face one of the toughest fights of their lives.”
