JOHN QUINN, whose star juvenile The Wow Signal hit the heights in the Coventry Stakes at Royal Ascot last week, heads to Newcastle today in the hope that the aptly-named Geordie George can also prove himself a smart two-year-old.

The colt certainly looked the part on his debut at Ripon earlier this month when scoring a wide-margin success to leave the impression that he is a well-above average youngster.

Next step for Geordie George is the Betfred Novice Stakes which opens the card today, in which he meets three previous winners, including the Richard Fahey-trained Vimy Ridge, who will relish this step up to six furlongs.

Geordie George is held in some regard in the Quinn stable and he is napped to follow-up his Ripon success.

The featured £20,000 Betfred Seaton Delaval Handicap looks very tight and Bold Prediction may prove the answer.

Trained by Karl Burke at Middleham, the four-year-old has proved a model of consistency this season and is overdue another winning turn. The 3lb claim of smart apprentice Joey Haynes will aid Bold Prediction's chances.

The Betfred Racing Like Us On Facebook Handicap may prove a good opportunity for Rayadour to score for Micky Hammond and PJ McDonald.

The five-year-old made a winning start to his delayed start to the campaign three weeks ago when narrowly beating Rumble Of Thunder at Ripon,. There should be precious little to choose between the pair again, but Rayadour may just have the edge again.

Keith Dalgleish has his horses in fine form and the Lanarkshire trainer has every chance of adding to his winners tally with Corton Lad in the Betfred Supports Jack Berry House Handicap, while Gabrial The Thug makes plenty of appeal in the Betfred World Cup Goals Galore Handicap for Richard Fahey.

David Nolan's mount finished third at Bath last time and looks capable of winning a modest race like this.

Today's Carlisle meeting is a poor clash with Newcastle, but this is an extra meeting for the Cumbrian course which is hosting the action instead of Warwick which is currently closed and under repair and consequently is unable to stage this fixture.

Sir Michael Stoute, whose horses were in such cracking form last week at Royal Ascot, sends Scallop up from Newmarket to contest the World Cup Free Bets Maiden Stakes.

James Doyle's mount finished second at Lingfield four weeks ago on the all-weather course, showing ability in the process. It is imperative to connections that they make Scallop a winner to enhance her value as a future brood-mare and this looks a good opportunity for her to shed her maiden tag.

Westow trainer Paul Midgley has his sprinters in excellent heart and Sunraider should go well for him in the Download The Free App @bookmakers.co.uk Handicap.

The seven-year-old got off the mark for the season on this course at the beginning of the month. He is up 5lb for that success and may be capable of following-up in the safe hands of Graham Lee.

Stillington trainer Marjorie Fife was pleasantly surprised that Thornaby Princess won on her reappearance at Ripon three weeks ago as she felt the filly might need the run - and the experience.

Thornaby Princess is apparently a filly with a bit of temperament, but she behaved perfectly well at Ripon and provided she does so again, she should make a bold bid to make it two-from-two for the campaign. Silvestre de Sousa takes the mount.
