A TROPHY high five was snared by Acomb ‘A’ player Simon Newby in the Acomb Wednesday Pool League.

Newby completed a clean sweep of prizes when he clinched the singles crown at the Loop bar, to add to the division one title, the team knockout, indvidual player of the season and doubles crowns he had already won.

In the singles, Newby ran out a 6-2 winner over team-mate and closest rival Paul Thomas, ending a run of 12 singles finals without a win against Thomas.

He also avenged his 11-9 loss in the 2013/14 York Masters final.

Captain David Catlow led Acomb ‘A’ to the league and cup double, making it their ninth division one title in a row.

Holgate were comfortable winners of division two, booking their first appearance in the top flight. Simon Morris claimed the player of the season award for the second tier.

Newcomers Cottage Inn ‘A’ gained promotion to division two along with division three winners Loop ‘A’.

Loop’s Joe Moore grabbed the title of division three player of the season.

The Plate KO competition was won by division one team Acomb ‘I’.

The new league season will start on June 18 and new teams are needed.
