9:54pm

That's it from me. Keeping click on The Press for reaction as the evening progresses.

9:52pm

There's disappointment tonight but let's remember how far York have come in such a short space of time.

What looked like a battle against relegation at Christmas almost ended at Wembley in May. There's plenty to build on next season and surely the feeling must be excitement with a summer of astute transfer activity ahead.

9:51pm

9:49pm

9:49pm

9:48pm

9:47pm

9:46pm

Chairman Jason McGill says he is hugely proud of the manager, players, staff and supporters of York City.

He said the performance epitomises what York City is all about. "'I'm a very proud chairman tonight."

9:45pm

9:44pm

9:44pm

9:43pm

The Fleetwood fans are all over the pitch in celebration. First time at Wembley.

9:42pm

9:42pm

9:41pm

That was a huge display from York. They gave it absolutely everything but, in the end, just couldn't get the goal they needed.

They were tremendous, particularly in the first half, but Fleetwood's defending - in the second period especially - was superb.

9:40pm

That's it. It's all over for York. It has finished Fleetwood 0, York 0.

9:39pm

9:39pm

Morris through. Only Pope to beat. He narrows the angle. And the Fleetwood player hits it straight at him.

9:38pm

Two minutes of the five left.

9:38pm

Jarvis cuts in from the right and shoots but Maxwell has firm hands and holds on.

9:37pm

City coming forward....

9:37pm

Pope came up but gets back in time.

9:36pm

It's cleared.

9:36pm

Coulson to take it...

9:36pm

Coulson shot, which was bending, is deflected over the bar. Corner for York.

9:35pm

Into stoppage time.

9:35pm

9:35pm

Last throw of the dice for Worthington. Hayhurst off, Tom Allan on.

9:34pm

Taylor nearly finished it there. A rasping shot, with a bit of bend on it, that only narrowly clears the far post.

9:31pm

Attendance: 5,194 (1.056 City).

9:30pm

9:29pm

9:29pm

Montrose now on. He replaces Adam Reed.

9:28pm

Ryan Creswell is on for Fleetwood, in place of Antoni Sarcevic.

9:26pm

Last ten, and Lewis Montrose looks like he is about to enter the fray.

9:24pm

You've got to give Fleetwood credit here. They are defending manfully in this second half. Calvin Andrew has a potshot from 30 yards.

Optimistic, but it doesn't clear the crossbar by much.

9:22pm

Corner to Fleetwood. Cleared.

9:21pm

Last 15 minutes. Fleetwood 0, York 0. It's now or never.

9:19pm

Alan Goodall is on and Schumacher is off for Fleetwood.

9:18pm

Schumacher's shot is blocked, though.

9:18pm

Now Fleetwood have a free kick in a very similar position - this time on the right post.

9:17pm

9:17pm

9:17pm

Over-hit by Reed and drifts harmlessly out of play.

9:16pm

Reed tries to turn Schumacher and gets up-ended. Free kick, in line with the left post, 35 yards out.

9:15pm

The shot was arrowing away from the City keeper but he somehow stretched a hand out and repelled it. Wonderful goalkeeping.

9:15pm

What a save from Pope! Gets a hand out to flick Sarcevic's drive round a post.

9:14pm

He's come on for Ryan Bowman. Looks a straight swap. Jarvis started the season like a train. Can he finish like one?

9:13pm

Ryan Jarvis is going to come on for York City. 23 minutes remaining.

9:12pm

Blair skins Davies on the bye-line and puts the ball back but there is no-one there to fire home. Morris shot is then blocked by Penn, who has been a titan this evening.

9:11pm

Hayhurst goes in late on McLaughlin on half-way and receives a yellow card for the challenge.

9:10pm

It's a high, whipping delivery but there is no-one at the back post.

9:09pm

Corner to City. Hayhurst to take once more.

9:09pm

9:09pm

9:08pm

The beast is coming on. Former Minsterman Jon Parkin replaces Iain Hume.

9:07pm

Chance! Almost a sucker punch. Morris drags one wide from 16 yards.

9:06pm

Brilliant cross from the left by Hayhurst and Reed just can't get enough on it to send it goalwards.

The desire of the Minstermen has been hugely impressive tonight. They are giving everything. Will they get a reward?

9:03pm

Nearly an hour in, and this is the first lull of the game. City getting ready for a big effort.

8:58pm

8:58pm

8:58pm

Fleetwood force a corner at the other end. Lowe had to defend a good looking ball. It's put in at the near post and it Sarcevic got first run and headed over the bar.

8:55pm

All it needed was a touch, but the delivery flashed across goal.

8:54pm

City have started the second half in fine fashion. Another corner.

8:52pm

Fleetwood have conceded a bizarre corner there.

8:50pm

We are back under way at Highbury. The biggest 45 minutes of York's season. Hopefully it isn't the last.

8:49pm

The two sides are back out on the pitch.

8:49pm

8:43pm

York just have to keep plugging away here. They have been on top except for the last 5 minues. Maxwell has made a couple of sharp saves but will the chance drop?

8:40pm

8:39pm

8:38pm

8:35pm

Bit presumptuous with the half-time button there but it is now the break and it's Fleetwood 0, York 0.

The Minstermen need a goal.

8:34pm

Corner to Fleetwood but easily cleared and Schumacher blasts over after the home side regain possession.

8:32pm

That was a close shave. Morris's cross was headed across goal by Bond and cannoned off Roberts - thankfully just wide.

8:31pm

I've heard it all now. 'Added time' at Fleetwood is sponsored by a bread company.

8:31pm

Into stoppage time at the end of the first half and we have got FOUR minutes.

8:30pm

Coulson is terrorising Fleetwood down the right. Clever pieces of skill and good interplay causing the Cod Army quite a few problems.

They've held firm so far, though.

8:27pm

8:26pm

Chance! Lowe's header is punched away by Maxwell, who looks unconvincing under pressure.

They caught Fleetwood napping with a short corner and almost made the most of it.

8:25pm

Another corner for City. Good work down the right from Oyebanjo. He finds Coulson with a little pass and the winger's cross is headed over.

8:22pm

Another good position for City, but Coulson can't find the cross and, at the other end, Blair steams down the right but York's defending is sound.

8:21pm

8:20pm

Another booking for Fleetwood. Antoni Sarcevic has cleaned out Michael Coulson.

That's three in the first half hour.

8:17pm

8:17pm

8:16pm

30 minutes in, it's 0-0 but I'm not sure how. Maxwell, in particular, has seen some action in the Fleetwood goal.

This has been a great start by City.

8:14pm

They nearly get one there. There's a scramble in the box but it is eventually forced out of the six-yard box.

8:14pm

It results in a corner. City just need a goal now.

8:14pm

Clever from Bowman. I thought he bought that a little but Mark Roberts has gone into the book and City have a free kick in a dangerous position.

8:12pm

8:10pm

Half chance for City there. Andrew heads over the bar. Dave Flett, sat next to me, reckons there is profit in the striker getting more into those positions.

8:10pm

8:09pm

Penn looks like he has taken a bang to the nose, but he and Hume, also involved in the clash, are good to carry on.

8:06pm

Clash of heads near the centre circle and Penn looks in a bit of discomfort.

8:06pm

McLaughlin has been booked for Fleetwood.

8:05pm

Hayhurst, under no pressure there, has smashed a cross across the box that never looks like meeting anyone. Got to do better with these deliveries.

8:05pm

Fleetwood box Graham Alexander is concerned enough to be prowling his touchline at the moment. City look much quicker tonight, particularly on the flanks, but they are more open as a result.

8:04pm

But Nick Pope claims it magestically.

8:03pm

Fleetwood probing and looking to play the ball behind City's two centre-halves. It bags them a corner.

8:02pm

8:01pm

City caught a little napping there at the free kick and Fleetwood have a corner.

8:00pm

Great chance for City. Coulson's shot is firm and on target - but straight at Chris Maxwell. This game is very open.

7:59pm

Great effort from Iain Hume - but it goes over the bar. He was found in the box by Josh Morris, who profited when Keith Lowe was forced to stretch in midfield and Oyebanjo slipped trying to retrieve the ball.

7:58pm

Poor piece of play from Charlie Taylor. He had acres and City are giving Fleetwood a bit of time to play out wide. I'd like to see them snapping into the challenge a bit quicker and keeping the pressure on.

7:57pm

7:56pm

7:55pm

Another corner for City and the ball is flicked into the side netting. The Minstermen are looking dangerous!

7:53pm

7:53pm

7:52pm

Good chance for City. Penn fires over the bar after Lowe meets a deep corner 10 yards out at the back post and heads it across the box.

Reed then has a shot blocked and the ensuing corner is cleared. Good start for Worthington's men.

7:49pm

Oyebanjo cross from the right claimed by Marshall. Quick break down the left and Josh Morris hits a shot narrowly over the bar.

Should have hit the target. An early let off for City.

7:48pm

7:47pm

He looks okay to continue.

7:46pm

7:46pm

Ryan Bowman has gone down injured immediately following the kick off.

7:45pm

We are under way at Highbury. Big huddle from the City players.

7:43pm

7:30pm

15 minutes to kick-off. You nervous?

7:27pm

7:25pm

7:25pm

7:25pm

So what do York City have to do tonight to overcome this deficit?

First up, they've got to give Calvin Andrew more support - and that means the two wingers getting much more involved.

Brobbel and Will Hayhurst were conspicuous by their absence at times on Monday and that allowed Fleetwood to swamp Andrew with two or three defenders every time he went up to win a ball.

On the occasions he did get in first, the midfield were too far behind play and the ball came right back.

They created enough chances in the last 30 minutes of the game to know they can threaten this Fleetwood side.

And, if they can start strongly, who is going to be the more nervous?

7:22pm

This explains Brobbel's absence...

7:19pm

7:19pm

7:17pm

And if memories of the Mansfield victory weren't enough to convince you the Minstermen can get the job done tonight, here's another glorious York City away day play-off victory to look back on. You'll like this one...

7:12pm

Apologies for the slight delay there, a couple of technical gremlins.

So there is no place for Ryan Brobbel - in the starting 11 or on the bench. Sander Puri comes in and sits with the substitutes.

Fleetwood go as they did on Monday night.

7:02pm

7:02pm

And what about this?

6:59pm

But if anyone can win a play-off semi-final second leg away from home, it is York City. Remember this?

6:55pm

The tide of history is against York City tonight - as Minstermen reporter Dave Flett pointed out in The Press earlier today:

YORK City are aiming to become only the fourth club in 28 years to reach the League Two play-off final after losing their semi-final first leg at home.

That feat has only been achieved three times in 54 previous ties but there is a recent precedent with a Bradford City side, featuring former Minsterman James Meredith, recovering from a 3-2 deficit at Valley Parade last term to clinch a .5-4 aggregate win over second-leg hosts Burton.

Prior to that, Shrewsbury were the last club to fight back from a first-leg home defeat, going down 1-0 to Bury before levelling the tie at Gigg Lane and going through on penalties in 2009.

Northampton were also shoot-out victors in 2004, having trailed 2-0 at Sixfields but fought back with a 3-1 triumph against Mansfield.

From the play-offs' introduction in 1987 until 2003, no side from the Football League's lowest tier managed to overturn a losing position from a home semi-final, first leg.

6:50pm

The weather's a bit different a few days on. A glorious evening for football.

6:45pm

As always, we want to hear from you. Give your backing to Worthington's men using the comments facility below or hit me up on twitter at @scarrollpress.

Alternatively, use the hashtag #ycfc and get involved in the conversation.

6:44pm

Good evening everyone from the Highbury Stadium.

Cross your fingers, will those goals in and hope that Nigel Worthington's men can book a berth under the Arch on May 26.

York City are going to have to do it the hard way. They trail 1-0 after losing the home leg of this two-legged semi-final at Bootham Crescent on Monday night.

But the Minstermen are battlers. They pulled themselves up from the brink of the bottom two to grab a play-off spot and, after their 17-match unbeaten run was ended by the Cod Army earler in the week, they will be keen to put matters right tonight.

So buckle up, stay with me throughout the evening - whether you are at the ground, watching in the pub, on TV or just browsing the internet - and lets roar York City to Wembley.

Sounds like a good effort by the city team. The lack of goals has been a worry all season and in the end counts against us. How many of the current defence will stay for next season? We need to find at least two forward who will score regularly to be ready in case those injured just now are not ready for the start of the season. Well done to the whole club for getting so much further than almost anyone could imagine at Christmas. Roll on the next season.

The lads gave it all they had. That's all we asked for. Thanks to Nigel and his staff. Looking forward to seeing who we bring in for our title-winning 2014-15 season.

110 % A whole hearted performance, A lot of plusses have come out since Christmas, The minuses is the lack of goal scorers, our draws should have been wins had there been a couple of players up front that loose their markers we wouldn't have had to be in the play offs, But the club has come miles this year , one thing is certain there will be at least 10 new faces coming in for the new season, two more defenders 3 holding mid fielders and 4 strikers and a new keeper, with Charlton selling Hamer to Leicester City it seems Pope will be heading back ,
