Selby Town renew manager quest as Jimmy Reid leaves club

SELBY Town are searching for their ninth manager in four years, writes Josh Luckhurst.
The Robins confirmed that boss Jimmy Reid and assistant Dean MacAuley had left the club by mutual consent.
Reid took over from predecessor Ian Dring at the helm of the club in January this year on a deal that was to last until the end of the season.
The Flaxley Road outfit finished 12th in the Northern Counties East League division one table, ending their season with a 3-1 defeat at home to Rossington on April 26
The former Pickering Town manager had hinted earlier in the season about prolonging his stay at the club to beyond the current campaign but, as talks for plans going into next season stalled, both parties decided to go their separate ways.
Robins secretary Thomas Arkley said: “He said he was staying until the end of the season, but we expected him to stay on.
"We were discussing plans into the new season, but they were not to his ideas so we decided to part by mutual consent.
"When he took over we were never in danger of going down but we could have finished higher in the league.”
Despite looking for another manager, many applicants have responded to a new advert in a short time and the club are looking for stability in the long term.
“We have had a couple of meetings and we are just looking to make the right decisions for both on and off the pitch," Arkley added. "Hopefully there will be an announcement by the club within the next month.”
