YORK City’s red army aiming to march on the Cod Army fortress of play-off opponents Fleetwood Town have netted a major boost.

The club are to provide free coach travel for all those City fans who buy tickets to watch the Minstermen’s Sky Bet League Two play-off clash at Fleetwood on Friday, May 16, kick-off 7.45pm.

With each ticket bought, supporters will be given the option of receiving a voucher for free coach travel to and from the game with City’s official travel providers, York Pullman.

The follow the play-off trail to Fleetwood offer at the Highbury Stadium, where City have been allocated 1,056 tickets, was agreed by City’s directors and manager Nigel Worthington as a fitting tribute to fans who have travelled in large numbers throughout the campaign to back the Minstermen.

Supporters who wish to travel independently may, of course, still do so.

All supporters who travel on the free coaches will also be given a free packet of Minstermen Munchies to enjoy during the trip across the Pennines.

Ticket prices for the away leg will be confirmed in due course, but the tickets will go on sale to season ticket holders this Thursday from 9am until 5pm with any remaining tickets going on general sale on Friday, May 9 from 9am.

Tickets will also be on sale from 11am until the 7.30pm kick off on Saturday, May 10 – the date of the first leg of the play-off semi-final at Bootham Crescent.

Sales will be limited to one ticket per person.

Credit card sales will be accepted and telephone sales will be available to season ticket holders and general sale with the timings described above.
