A FOURTH consecutive birdie at the 17th hole earned North Yorkshire golfer Simon Dyson a top-ten finish in the Volvo China Open in Shenzhen.
The 36-year-old experienced an up and down final round at the Genzon Golf Club, carding three birdies and three bogeys prior to his four at the 575-yard penultimate hole.
A one under par round of 71 was enough to give York-born Dyson a ten under par total for a share of eighth spot and a cash prize of 48,099 euros from a tournament won by Alexander Levy on 19 under par.
Dyson said: "I threw everything at it but nothing was really dropping for me. It was like taking one step forward and two steps back.
"I am very pleased with how I played. I gave myself a lot of chances and that is all you can really ask.
"It is a top-ten finish and I am pleased to be going into the bulk of the European Tour playing prettty decent."
Dyson had carded a blemish-free three under par round of 69 on Saturday to follow his opening two scores of 67 and 71.
