YORK City's top scorer Wes Fletcher has been ruled out for the rest of the season.

Scans have confirmed that Fletcher suffered medial ligament and cartilage damage to his knee following the challenge that saw Portsmouth captain Ben Chorley sent off during the Minstermen's 1-0 win at Fratton Park.

Fletcher will now undergo an operation and it is hoped he will return in time for pre-season training.

Awful news for Wes as he is an inspiration to the team. Nigel saw this coming, however and has taken wise steps to provide cover.

I know it won't be the case but I do hope those shameless people (not fans) following the managerless Portsmouth who abused him as he made his way around the touchline hang their heads in shame after calling him a cheat.

Let's press on with a push for the play-offs to give Wes the possibility of starting pre-season training for League One

Come on City!!

This is gutting for both the lad and the club. I hope all the pompey fans that abused him rot in skrill premier next year.

Hoping the rest of the team manage to keep this fabulous run going. I'm actually looking forward to the remaining games, especially now we don't have to keep looking over our shoulder and relying on other teams to choke. Expecting a good game tomorrow. #eatsleepwinrepeat

Terrible news, we've lost a very skilled and hard-working player for some crucial matches. Hopefully the other strikers will up their game to compensate, and we can see Fletcher play in League One next season. Looking forward to seeing Brobbel again, he has the potential to score and create the goals we'll need.

It would be a nice gesture but I can,t see Chorley apologising..Wes,s loss is a massive one for us at this crucial stage of the season. Bowman has to step up now and not miss any more open goal tap ins. Coulo will always give 100 per cent but Wes,s quality will be sorely missed and I hope he makes a complete and speedy recovery. Our new striker will get chances but still heard nothing about Shaq. Who must have disappeared! Tough game on Saturday v Burton but Brobbel is back and may replace Josh( best wishes also for complete and speedy recovery also). What is noteworthy is that NW with the co-operation of the Chairman has acted very swiftly to sign 2 players and ensure the squad is not depleted. Well done NW and J M.

This is undoubtedly a blow as both Fletcher and Carson are influential players in our attacking line-up. Full marks to both NW and JM for bolstering the squad with the right players. The fact Brobbel knows the club and the fans know him and his obvious ability and potential will contribute to the confidence throughout the club continuing.

Fletcher and Carson will continue to contribute to our season, be it encouragement at training or in the stand come Saturday.

Burton will pose a difficult test, but given the run of form it is a test we will relish and stand up to. Not a season defining game by any means but a good yardstick to show how far we have come in relation to challenging a top team.

COYR.

Got to say that I'm impressed that Nigel Worthington and the board have moved quickly and decisively to deal with the loss of the Fletcher and Carson. I feared that these two injuries would mark a change in our season and rather than an exciting challenge for a play off position the last few games would be a case of what if.....

As a York exile I only tend to get to see away games in the south. Started at Dagenham and most recently Portsmouth. After the Dagenham game I was worried about our long term future in League 2, but gradually its been turned round. I think all at the club should be congratulated, players, manager, board, back room staff and supporters.

To be in this position at this stage of the season is way beyond my personal expectations - lets hope we continue our run of form and extend our season by a further three games.

Well said NE,, Fouls like that one should be viewed by a panel and an appropriate ban should be handed down , Chorley in my opinion should be banned for 12 games without pay, If its any consolation it go's without saying
my son we wish you all the very best and as NE said we hope the team gives you opportunity to play in Div 1 next season, Hope everything go's well with the op.

Hello Billy Bulley

Just got back home after a hard day at the benefit mine.

I really have no interest in bickering with you, neither have I any desire to meet up for a drink after the match. All I will do is simply expose you for what you are .......

At worth, don't let him wind you up, mate, he's just a fantasist who, in the past, has claimed all sorts of weird things, including admitting to be a Luton fan. He's probably lived in Clifton all his life.

Hope we can kick on tomorrow - a point would not be a disgrace against tricky opponents but I fancy us to win 2-1, courtesy of Bowman and McCombe. C'mon City!
