PICKERING Town cruised to a 6-0 victory at home to Glasshoughton Welfare in the Northern Counties East League premier division.

Tony Hackworth opened the scoring with a 21st minute tap-in from Joe Danby’s cross and two minutes before the break Danby’s shot was saved and Josh Greening rolled in the rebound.

Robbie Hawkes netted the third on the hour after a superb Pikes move and Lewis Taylor struck a minute later.

Danby got on the scoresheet with a 45-yard lob in the 90th minute and then Sam Calvert netted a simple goal in injury time after a back pass mix-up from the visitors.

Tadcaster Albion moved six points clear at the top despite being held to a 2-2 draw at home to Athersley Recreation.

Second-placed Barton Town Old Boys were without a game and they now have four games in hand on the Brewers.

Athersley led 1-0 at half-time, but Carl Stewart scored from the penalty spot and then fired in a second goal to put the hosts in front on 60 minutes.

However, the visitors salvaged a point with a 66th minute goal.

Selby Town went down 3-2 at Worsbrough Bridge Athletic in division one.

Striker Danny Gray put the Robins in front on 16 minutes, but Adam Podmore equalised on 27 minutes and Athletic profited from a 47th minute Chris White penalty.

Mark Willoughby pulled the visitors level on the hour, but White’s second goal settled the match eight minutes later.

Knaresborough are one place above Selby in tenth after their 0-0 draw at home to Eccleshill United.

There was no game in Evo-Stik League division one north for Harrogate Railway Athletic, while in divsion one south Scarborough Athletic lost 2-0 at Newcastle Town.

The scorers for Athletic’s play-off rivals were Dan Skelton on 16 minutes and Josh Gordon on 67.
