Luke Quantock and Neil Hart win at YDP Blind Pairs Darts Open

A total of 46 players took part in the YDP Blind Pairs Darts Open at Clarence WMC, where Luke Quantock and Neil Hart emerged victorious.
They defeated Darren Johnson and Paul Saville 3-0 in the final with Hart hitting five 180s in total and adding a 104 finish in the first round.
Quantock also set the tone for the duo’s success by throwing a maximum with his first three darts.
In the semi-finals, Taz Richardson (180) and Adam Thompson went down 2-1 to Quantock and Hart with Dave Lord and Rob Sargent beaten 2-0 by Johnson and Saville.
Johnson claimed a 177 score and a 105 finish while Saville managed a 24-dart leg.
The fastest game of the night saw Robbie Carr and Rich Pike check out 701 in 22 darts.
Sargent also hit a 110 finish, while Mark Gale checked out in 109 having thrown a maximum too.
In the first qualifying stage of the 2014 YDP Masters Darts Open, York’s Richie Corner was triumphant at The Greyhound in Bridlington, beating Phil Downsworth 4-2 in the final.
Legs of 18-21-21-19 saw Corner beat hometown hopeful Downsworth in the first of eight qualifiers to be held across Yorkshire with the quarter-finalists from each stage securing a place at the Grand Finals at Huntington WMC on Saturday, January 25.
Corner did not drop a single leg in his run to the final, hitting two 180s and a 13-dart leg against fellow Minsterman Trevor Day, before whitewashing quarter-final opponent Tony Rodgers, also from York, and Hornsea’s Steve Brookes in the last four with 17 and 21-dart legs.
In the other semi-final, Dunsworth (19) overcame Harvey Rodgers and a 180 for 17 earned him victory over Bridlington’s Andy Senior in the last eight following from a 3-0 win over Richardson, courtesy of 16 and 17-dart efforts.
Hart and Bridlington’s Barry Balaban were the other qualifiers.
Earlier rounds saw Hart close legs in 18, 20 and 17 darts, then throw a 180 for 18 and 17.
Brookes also managed two 17-dart legs and Rice won in 17 and 18 before going out to Balaban (17) 3-2 in the last 16 despite winning legs of 18 and 17.
Trevor Day and Bridlington’s Andy Senior won the Blind Pairs event beating Bridlington’s Balaban and Kev Bertie in the final.
The beaten semi-finalists were York duo Hart and Karren Richardson and Tony Rodgers (York) and Mark Hessletine (Bridlington).
Carlton Social Club hosted the second YDP Masters Open stage, won by Barnsley’s Alan Priestly.
He whitewashed Dean Conley in the final with legs of 14 and 16 darts.
The six other Grand Finals qualifiers were semi-finalists Adam Tooley (Rothwell) and Russ Johnson, along with quarter-finalists Andy Jones (Barnsley), Carl Hesslegrave (Barnsley), Brian Metcalfe (Wetherby) and Hendry (Ferrybridge).
