Seven-up win after injury woe for York City ladies reserves
10:16am Wednesday 2nd October 2013 in Sport
YORK City ladies reserves recovered from the blow of losing Chantel Padgham with a broken leg to run out 7-0 winners at Huntington, writes Dave Flett.
The unfortunate Padgham was taken to hospital with her side leading 2-0 thanks to a second-minute strike from Louise Ross and an own goal.
Her replacement Carol Thompson went on to bag a brace after player-of-the-game Helen Dalby had extended the visitors’ lead with a header.
Fellow substitutes Steph Nicolle and Sammy Terry completed the scoring for a York side who got a lot of joy down the flanks due to the running of Ellie Randall and Jordanne Devine.
Jenna Strain’s positional play at centre back was also influential in safeguarding another clean sheet for the team.
City’s reserves now play host to Stokesley on Sunday at York College, kick-off 11.30am.
The first team will be in action at the same venue on the same day with a 2pm start against Castleford.
