Nigel Worthington holds on to York City duo
OUT-OF-FAVOUR York City pair Michael Coulson and Jamal Fyfield still have roles to play at Bootham Crescent.
Neither Coulson nor Fyfield have made the bench for the Minstermen’s last two games but manager Nigel Worthington believes his squad is still too slim to sanction any outgoing loan moves.
Fyfield, 24, has only managed two outings this season, while 25-year-old Coulson has started just two games.
With first-year professionals Chris Dickinson and Mike Atkinson both out on loan at Northallerton Town, though, Worthington is aware that their services might be required should City’s current injury-free squad pick up any problems in coming weeks.
With Richard Cresswell currently suspended, Worthington has 21 senior players to choose from although four – loan signings Ryan Brobbel, Elliott Whitehouse, Ben Davies and Chris Kettings – belong to other clubs.
On the possibility of loan departures for his fringe players, the City chief said: “The situation is we need a squad of players. We still have a streamlined one and, with the two young lads out on loan, we will keep running with what we have got.”
