REGULARS and locals have seen the New Year in at a pub near York - more than eight months late.
The Ship Inn at Acaster Malbis organised a delayed celebration after it was badly flooding by the River Ouse last December.
At the stroke of midnight, arms were linked and Auld Lang Syne was sung, said landlady Sarah Nicholson.
“We had promised that we would have a party later in the year so we tied it in with my husband, Tony’s 60th Birthday,” she said.
Tony said: “Our customers were so supportive during and following the floods, so this was also a way for us to say thank you.
“Thanks to all who came and those who couldn’t but sent their best wishes. Also, thanks to all the staff who worked so hard to make the party a success. We’re hoping this year’s celebration can be held on the correct date!”
Guests donated money to York Rescue Boat, and £350 was raised.
