A CYCLIST has suffered 'serious but not life-threatening injuries' in a crash in York city centre.
The bike was in collision with a delivery lorry in Piccadilly at about 10am on Tuesday.
The accident happened near the road's junction with Dixon Lane, a cycle track and footpath near a Siemens office block which links Piccadilly with George Street.
North Yorkshire Police and Yorkshire Ambulance Service said the male cyclist was taken to Leeds General Infirmary (LGI) but were unable initially to comment on the nature or extent of his injuries.
But a spokesman said this afternoon that he had serious but not life-threatening injuries, while he was still unable to confirm the nature of those injuries.
A Berendsen delivery lorry was seen at the scene after the accident, with damage to its windscreen.
The accident scene was cordoned off by police as officers investigate, and Piccadilly was closed in both directions, with vehicles diverted via Walmgate, until it re-opened at 12.20pm.
A cyclist at the scene, who did not wish to be identified, said: "I was coming along and saw a police car and ambulance, and a guy lying on the ground. He looked to be in quite a bad way."
