AN arrest has been made after a man suffered a head injury after being attacked with a weapon in a house in York.

Officers spent yesterday at a property in Chaloners Crescent in Acomb.

The 49-year-old was struck with a weapon, described as a blunt instrument, and suffered significant blood loss following the attack at about 11.30 pm on Friday, North Yorkshire Police said.

A 34-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of assault. 

The victim left a trail of blood on nearby streets as he was seen staggering away from the address.

His injuries were not as severe as initially feared, a police spokesman said.
