YORK is in line for a new fast food outlet under plans submitted to the city council.

An application to demolish the garage and petrol station on the A1237/ A59 junction and replace it with a new petrol station, restaurant and food shop is currently before planners.

The scheme, near the recently completed Poppleton Road Park and Ride scheme, would see the restaurant occupied by McDonald's and shop by Marks and Spencer.

Outline permission was granted last year, and a filter lane to access the site from the A1237 has already been built.

The application submitted by developers the Skelwith Group shows the two storey McDonald’s restaurant, four pump BP petrol station, and the M & S Simply Food store.
