PEOPLE will get a chance to meet and talk to veterans who took part in the Normandy landings at York's Castle Museum next week.

Following the 70th anniversary of the biggest seaborne invasion in history, a number of old soldiers will be attending the museum from 10am until 4pm on Tuesday.

The informal event on the second floor of the Debtors Prison side of the museum will allow members of the public to hear about their part in D-Day, its aftermath and the Second World War.

Faye Prior, collections facilitator at the museum, said: “D-Day proved to be a crucial turning point during the war and to mark the 70th anniversary we are very lucky to have a number of men coming to the museum to share their experiences with us."
