THE Red Arrows will take to the skies above York at the Elvington Model Air Show this weekend.

The show is being held for the fourth year running at Elvington Airfield on both Saturday and Sunday with pilots from throughout the UK and Europe taking part with two miles of runways to display on.

Dave Johnson, chairman of the large model aircraft association, said more than 6,000 people attended last years' event with hopes high that figure will be bettered this year, and 400 caravans already on site.

Mr Johnson said: "Elvington is the second largest model air show and we will have the Red Arrows and a Vulcan fly through on the afternoon both days. In addition to the model stalls there will be a host of craft and catering stalls, it's a real family event."

The show starts at 10am and runs till 5pm each day with last entry at 4pm. Tickets cost £9 for adults, £8 for senior citizens with children under 16 free.
