A PLAN to build a new service station on Green Belt land off the A64 east of the York has been withdrawn.

Agents England and Lyle, who were behind the application by Enita Europe, said the planning application had been withdrawn last week to allow their clients more time to address the concerns raised in the application.

The case had been due before the city council’s planning committee on Thursday, but faced opposition from planning officials who recommended the scheme be refused.

They raised concerns about building on Green Belt land, environmental problems the project could cause, and traffic worries brought up by Huntington Parish Council.

England and Lyle’s Gary Swarbrick said they and Enita now plan to work on a revised application, which is likely to be re-submitted very soon.
