Violent thunder storms hit York and North Yorkshire last night.
Fourteen-year-old Chloe Wood captured this impressive shot of lightning strikes coming down over Bishopthorpe from her bedroom in the village.
The picture was taken not long after the storms began at around 7pm, and stepfather Mike said he doesn't know how Chloe managed to time the photo, taken on her iPhone, to perfectly capture the moment the lightning struck.
Elsewhere in the region, the storms have been blamed for a fire on a Selby industrial estate, and lightning strikes caused signalling problems and delays on the rail network between Selby and Leeds.
