FOUR more inspirational teachers have been nominated as the Community Pride Teacher of the Year by students, parents, and colleagues impressed with their dedication to their work.

The Year 2 teacher and head of maths at Hob Moor Primary, Natalie Whaite, has been nominated by Hannah Jackson and her daughter Alisha, 7. Hannah has praised Miss Whaite for always supporting her pupils to do their very best, and throwing herself in to the life of the school.

In just four years at Hob Moor, she has set up extra-curricular activities including early bird study sessions to help struggling students before school.

Another nomination has come from six year old Eddie Burns. His teacher Kate France lives in York but has taught at Melbourne Primary School near Pocklington for eight years. MIss France said she was “shocked and proud” to find out about her nomination.

Eddie said: “Miss France helps me in class.” Kate treats each student individually and caters to their particular needs, and works hard to make learning as much fun as possible.

Meanwhile at Canon Lee School Mark Rampling has been nominated by his colleagues on the school's pastoral team Jo Boulter, Simon Stancliffe and Rob Orr. Mark started at Canon Lee School in February 2013 as a teaching assistant and is now a pupil premium champion, making sure that students get the support they deserve.

Jo said that Mark "goes the extra mile" for his pupils every day, and has introduced reward trips such as ice skating at Christmas and arranged for a climbing wall to be brought into school for two days to encourage students.

Besides this Mark has also set up, pre-GCSE stress buster sessions, breakfast and lunchtime clubs, and the school’s Duke of Edinburgh scheme.

Meanwhile mum Annamarie Thorpe has nominated Haxby Road Primary School teacher Richard Robinson, who she says "ticks all the boxes" as a teacher.

"As a parent you want to know your children are learning, are safe, and enjoy school, and Mr Robinson makes sure of all that."

Annamarie's son Kieran is in Mr Robinson's Y6 class, and has seen his grades climb steadily under this teacher's careful attention. And with secondary school beckoning in the autumn, Annamarie said she and other parents are thrilled with the amount of work Mr Robinson has put in to make sure their children are ready to make the big transition.
