A MOTORCYCLIST has suffered serious injuries in a crash outside York.
The incident happened on the A1237 between the A59 and Wetherby Road at about 11.15am.
A spokeswoman for North Yorkshire Police said the road was closed in both directions while investigations into the crash - which involved only the motorcycle - took place, and motorists would be unable to get from or to Rufforth or Knapton by that route.
The spokeswoman said the road was "likely to remained closed for some time", but although initial reports of the second injury had suggested a second incident, it now appeared the motorcycle was carrying a pillion passenger, who was also injured in the incident.
The spokeswoman said the rider was thought to have suffered a suspected broken collarbone.
