ENGINEERS have completed a new access road into a Pocklington industrial estate from the A1079.
The £300,000 scheme at the Hodsow Lane/Allerthorpe roundabout will provide a direct and safer route into and out of Pocklington Industrial Estate.
It will also make it easier and safer for walkers and cyclists between Pocklington and the industrial estate.
The bill for the scheme was met by East Riding of Yorkshire Council and the BroadHelm Venture, who are developing Broadhelm Business Park adjoining the estate. The road was constructed by Galliford Try.
Cllr Chris Matthews, cabinet portfolio holder for infrastructure, highways and emergency planning, said: “The council is delighted that this missing piece of the puzzle is now complete, benefitting motorists and the travelling public as well as helping open up this important area for business development."
Jonathan Atkinson of the BroadHelm Venture, said that since work started on the new road, it had immediately stimulated inquiries from new and existing businesses wishing to relocate to the business park.
Work on another important highway infrastructure scheme will get underway in autumn with a new £1.5million roundabout at the junction of the A1079/Holme Road in Market Weighton, improving accessibility for residents of Market Weighton and Holme-on-Spalding Moor onto the A1079.
