MONTHS after work began, the redevelopment of King's Square is to be celebrated with a special festival.
The celebrations will take place on Saturday, June 14, and will see retailers will be offering a special discounts and free samples while entertainers and street performers from far-and-wide including international stunt acts, escape artists and knife jugglers will be joining regular performers to mark the occasion.
Festival organiser Louise Harris said it would be a great opportunity for businesses, the council and York Street Performers' Association to work together and celebrate the new look public square.
She added: "We are expecting a great atmosphere and a chance to see some truly spectacular entertainment."
Now the work is complete York Retail Forum's chairman has praised the results.
Frank Wood said: "“I am delighted that King’s Square is now back in use, and looks stunning. It is a substantial area, which is ideal to be used for exhibitions such as St Nicholas Fair."
