TWO fugitives who absconded from open prison in Doncaster have been recaptured by police today.
Damien Burns, 39, was arrested in Scarborough at 5.40pm, two days after walking out of Hatfield category D jail in Doncaster.
With him on Monday was Dean Jackson, 27, who was tracked down today in Durham.
A South Yorkshire police spokesman said: "Police would like to thank the public for their assistance."
Dubbed The Scarborough Slasher, Burns was serving an indeterminate sentence for slashing a teenager across the face.
Despite a history of violence which includes convictions for robbery, wounding with intent and conspiracy to steal motor vehicles, Burns was able to walk out the South Yorkshire open prison with Jackson - who was on remand awaiting sentence for theft offences.
