CHARITY Marie Curie is appealing for volunteers to come forward and help with its Tour de France plans.

The charity, which provides nurses to give free care to people with terminal illnesses in their homes, is the official charity partner of the Grand Depart 2014, and is organising events and fundraising drives across Yorkshire to coincide with the race.

Now organisers need volunteers to come forward to help run events and act as collectors gathering donations at spectator hubs on race day.

Community Fundraiser Natalie Atherley said: "This is a once in a lifetime opportunity to not only get close to the action and see some cycling greats, but also be raise vital funds for the charity.

"Supporting the Tour is about getting everyone in the community involved, so come down and help Marie Curie put on a fantastic party!"
