FIREFIGHTERS rescued two dogs and two cats from a house fire near York.
Crews were called to the fire in Leasmires Avenue, Easingwold, at about 2.30pm on Thursday.
A spokeswoman for North Yorkshire fire service said the occupiers were not in the house at the time.
The crews rescued the pets and put out the fire, which was in the kitchen, using four breathing apparatus, two hose reel jets, a thermal imaging camera and small tools.
The fire service spokeswoman said the fire caused approximately 25 per cent smoke and heat damage to the kitchen.
