TWO thirds of male drivers in Yorkshire would risk their lives by driving through floodwater, alarming new figures have revealed.

In a survey commissioned by the Environment Agency and the AA, 67 per cent of men in Yorkshire admitted they would take the risk rather than find a safer route, even though such actions are the leading cause of death during a flood.

The agency said just 30cm of water could be enough to float a family car.

The survey finding was revealed as the agency runs a campaign warning people across the country to be prepared for flooding in advance by checking their risk and signing up for free warnings.
