FAMILIES can enjoy Viking-themed activities at a York museum this February half-term.

As part of Jorvik Viking Festival, there will be Viking peg doll making, Viking dress-up and a special curators talk on Jorvik life at the Yorkshire Museum, in Museum Gardens, next week.

Visitors can create their own Viking peg doll every day from Saturday until February 18, from 11am to 1pm and 2pm to 4pm.

On the same days, under fives can try on Viking costumes, play Viking games and make a miniature longboat during Museum Monkeys sessions from 11am to 1pm and 2pm to 4pm. Visitors can also hear about how and why the Vikings settled in York in a special talk from one of the museum’s experts on Tuesday, from 12.30pm to 1pm. This is aimed at families with children over five-years-old. All activities are free with admission. Children under 16 and YMT (York Museums Trust) card holders go free.
