YORK has scooped the title of ‘Best UK Destination’ at a national group travel awards ceremony.
The city fought off competition from London, Manchester, Eastbourne and Birmingham at the Group Leisure & Travel Awards 2017 in Birmingham.
The awards aimed to recognise the best destinations and attractions in the group travel industry, as voted for by groups such as sports and social clubs and retired associations.
Michelle Brown, of Visit York, said: “We’re absolutely delighted. York is lucky enough to be packed full of amazing attractions for groups, from York Minster and the National Railway Museum, to Jorvik.”
