A canopy of trees reaching up into a blue autumn sky; a luridly-coloured fly agaric mushroom sprouting through soft grass; and a spray of berries glimpsed at Monks Cross. Just three of the many entries so far for this month's Press Camera Club competition.

As you may have guessed from the photos on these pages, the theme of this month's competition is 'autumn'.

But camera club members have each interpreted it in their own way, whether through arty double images of pumpkins in a garden, a close up of a single leaf caught against a wire mesh fence, or a brightly-coloured spray of leaves framed against timber decking.

We've had scores of entries already. But if you think you can do better, get your camera out, sign up to our club on facebook - and get snapping.

The deadline for entries is the end of the month. The competition winner - chosen by Press photographer Frank Dwyer - will get £50 and a great canvas print of their winning photo. And of course many of the entrants get to see their photos featured in the pages of The Press...
