PUPILS at a York school have celebrated the opening of a new wildflower garden - giving them somewhere quiet and peaceful to spend breaktimes.
Park Grove Primary Academy has teamed up with the Urban Buzz project to create “Insect Fields”, and bought games and books which will be kept in special benches so children use the garden as somewhere to be quiet and relax.
The garden currently boasts a stunning display of summer wildflowers, and on Tuesday, June 27, Park Grove celebrated its opening with a special breakfast organised by Year 5 children.
As part of their Archbishop of York’s Young Leader Awards, the children had to organise a community event, and they decided to make this event a celebration for the new garden.
Children, parents and community groups were invited to share their breakfast at the school, as a Park Grove governor declared the garden officially open,
