MORE than a thousand people took part in a neon-lit night-time walk around York to raise money for St Leonard’s Hospice.
Staff and volunteers from the hospice, along with around 900 walkers, set off from York College at midnight on Saturday for the six-and-a-half mile circular walk.
Katie Jackson, events fundraiser at the hospice and organiser of the Midnight Walk, said the event had been a huge success, with sponsorship expected to top £60,000.
She said: “There are so many people to thank - photographers Laura Kate Bradley and Matthew Jackson, York Inset Scooter Club, York College, Kent of K S, a whole host of local butchers, White’s Bakery, Countrywise, Morrison’s Foss Island and Tesco Askham Bar.
"Last but not least, a huge thank you to the volunteers who made it happen, and the walkers for their overwhelming support.”
