ROAD closures have been announced ahead of next weekend's York 10k.

As part of the setting up operations, a small number of road closures will be in place from noon on Saturday, August 6.

Knavesmire Road will be closed between its junction with Tadcaster Road and Knavesmire Crescent from noon on Saturday until 3pm on Sunday.

Parking restrictions will also be in operation on Knavesmire Road, Racecourse Road, Bishopthorpe Road, Vine Street, Butcher Terrace and Priory Street between 4pm on Saturday until 3pm on Sunday.

On Sunday, most roads around the 10K route will be closed from 8:30am until noon including Bishopthorpe Road, Coney Street, Skeldergate from Terry Avenue to Bishopgate Street and Minster Yard from Duncombe Place to Deangate.

Knavesmire Road from Tadcaster Road to Campleshon Road will be closed from 4am until 2pm and the whole of Racecourse Road will be closed from 6am until 3pm.

Charlie Tatman, Event Manager with race organiser Run For All, said: “We are extremely grateful to everyone who helps to make the York 10K such a success.

“Of course, with such a big event some disruption is unavoidable. We will be working hard to get the roads re-opened as quickly as possible and we would like to apologise in advance for any inconvenience caused.”
