RESIDENTS in York can attend drop-in sessions to get help signing up to the Big Community Energy Switch, which could help save money on their gas and electricity bills.

The sessions will take place in various locations throughout the city in September. Residents who would like to find out more about switching are asked to bring a fuel bill along with them.

Cllr Dave Merrett, Cabinet Member for environmental services, said: “I am urging residents who are thinking about switching energy providers to go to one of the sessions and speak with one of our helpful advisors. Advisors will help residents make an informed decision about registering for the Big Community Switch. They will also be able to residents sign up to the scheme if they bring along a fuel bill.”

In York, 242 residents switched last year which resulted in an average saving per person of £169 over the year. That’s a potential saving of over £40,000 across the city.
