THIS plate of treats would have had Georgians licking their lips in anticipation of the feast that awaited them.

An insight into how Georgians dined during slap up banquets is being revealed to the public during the rest of the year at Fairfax House, on Castlegate.

Visitors to the 18th Century town house can view what's on offer inside the home's kitchen, which has been designed to give people an insight into life during the 1700s.

A spokesman for the attraction said: "There's always food set out as if it's ready for a banquet.

"It's a prominent exhibition that's set in the kitchen to give people a view of what the food looked like during the Georgian period."
