CHART-topper Tinchy Stryder is heading to the region to officially open a new £4m outdoor events arena.

The recording artist and businessman – also known as the Star in the Hood – will be Flamingo Land on August 22 to headline at the North Yorkshire attraction’s Party in the Park.

And as well as performing he will also officially open the theme park’s new entertainment arena Riverside One.

“The point of Party In The Park is to invite as many local people to visit our Resort and enjoy our wonderful new development at an affordable price,” said a spokesman.

“No expense has been spared on Riverside One or the array of talent that we have secured for the event, including children's entertainment, singing acts and our acrobatic team.”

Riverside One, which includes three restaurants, has been designed along the lines of a piazza where people can sit back and relax.

Its centrepiece is a spectacular illuminated waterfall with an all-weather stage for live entertainment.

Ghanaian-born Tinchy Stryder – real name Kwasi Danquah III – is one of the leading performers in his field and five years ago was crowned as Britain’s highest-selling solo artist.

His career took off in 2007 with the release of his debut album which spawned its own singles and was followed by more musical success.

Together with soul-singer Dionne Broomfield, he recorded the official torch relay song for the 2012 London Olympics.

Outside the music world and despite his relatively young age of 27, Tinchy Stryder is also a successful businessman.

He runs his own international fashion company as well as a global publishing company.

He also has his own line of audio consumer electronics, Goji, income from which he donates to charity.
