HUNDREDS of people gathered to see vintage vehicles get up a head of steam this weekend.

The 62nd Pickering Traction Engine Rally ran from Thursday to Sunday, with more than a thousand vintage and classic cars and motorbikes on display alongside steam vehicles.

As well as being the biggest steam event of the Ryedale calendar, the show also featured displays by the Royal Signals Motorcycle display team riding vintage British Triumph bikes.

Visitors came from across Yorkshire to enjoy the event, with many hauling caravans or camping close to the Pickering Showground, and other events included a steam ploughing competition, funfair and more than 400 vintage tractors, with a firework display on Saturday evening.
