THOUSANDS of people flocked to the 148th annual Ryedale Show from across the whole of the country.

With a variety of exhibits on show, from livestock to vintage tractors, there was something to suit everybody, showing why generations of families have been coming back to Ryedale for the show.

Father Steve Craig, from Malton, made his first appearance to the show this year and it has made quite the impression.

He said: "It’s a brilliant show and there’s so much to go and see. I’ve been to other shows like Rosedale and Farndale but this one is on a much bigger scale.

"The horses are the best thing for me as my son Ashley works for Peter Niven’s Yard so I’m always eager to watch the horses."

Joy Dowson had travelled from Danby to visit the show after missing out for the last few years and said that the show continues to impress year on year.

She said: "There’s always plenty for people to see and with the lovely weather is makes a massive difference.

"I don't like to miss anything and I like to see the horses and the livestock but my interests lie in the vintage tractors."

Rob Cussons is certainly no stranger to the show and he is one of many who have been attending the show for generations.

He said: "My family have been coming all their life and I’m the third generation. It’s always a good day when you’ve got nice weather. Some years we aren’t so lucky but it’s nice to have a day like today."

His grandad David Cussons is very loyal to the show and has been coming for many years.

Rob said: "It’s great that it’s so local and keeps people interested into the agricultural side of Yorkshire, and it brings in people from all over."
