TWO motorcyclists were taken to hospital - one by air ambulance - after a crash near Tadcaster this morning.

North Yorkshire Police said the accident happened at about 10am in Wighill Lane, between Tadcaster and Wighill.

A spokesman said one casualty had been taken to Leeds General Infirmary and the other to York Hospital.

A Yorkshire Ambulance Service spokeswoman said a motorcyclist had been airlifted to Leeds by the Yorkshire Air Ambulance. She said that in the aftermath of the accident, neither of the patients was in a critical or life-threatening condition.

North Yorkshire Fire & Rescue Service said firefighters were called out to the accident, which it understood had also involved a car and a tractor, but their services were not needed.
