A lucky couple were able to bask in the glory of the Tour de France after winning two golden tickets for VIP access at York Racecourse.

Claire and Simon Cawood, of Derwent Way, Derwenthorpe, experienced the Grand Depart from a unique viewpoint at the iconic location, after entering a competition in The Press.

York SKODA Dealership, D. M. Keith Ltd, recently extended its hand of friendship to the community, by offering the winners a chance to experience Stage 2 of The Tour De France.

Mrs Cawood, 44, said: "I entered the competition because my husband is a really keen cyclist and a big fan of the Tour de France.

"It was a wonderful atmosphere and it was great to be involved in the day.

Dougal Keith, managing director at D. M. Keith Ltd, presented the Yellow Jersey at the end of Stage 2.

He added: “As a leading family Yorkshire business, we were delighted to help make the Tour De France a day to remember for Claire and Simon.

"The event has been fantastic, and made us feel very proud to be part of a great occasion.”

A family-owned and established business for more than 50 years, D. M. Keith Ltd has several ŠKODA retailers throughout Yorkshire, including ŠKODA York on Wigginton Road.
