A READER is planning to treat herself to a holiday after becoming the latest winner of a competition organised by The Press.
Joan Simpson, of Laburnum Close, Rufforth, near York, is the third person to win £1,000 in our monthly contest, which will run in the newspaper every month until the end of the year.
She was selected at random from hundreds of readers who collected 25 of the vouchers printed each day in the newspaper in May and sent them in.
"I was over the moon when I heard I had won," said Mrs Simpson, a widow aged 85, who has been a loyal Press reader for many years.
"It was a very nice surprise, which came at a very good time. I get the paper every day and thought I might as well do the competition.
"I will probably spend it on a holiday later in the year - not abroad but somewhere in England, such as Devon or Cornwall, or maybe Scotland. I like going on coach holidays with a friend."
• Don’t forget we are giving away £1,000 to one lucky winner every month, with the next £1,000 winner set to be announced in July. Just look for the tokens printed every day and start collecting.
